Mayor of Weatherford says Rep. King's agenda harms small cities
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported last week that the mayor of Weatherford wrote a letter to Rep. King in the waning days of the regular session, saying that the representative's telecom bills "would 'cause immeasurable harm' to the majority of individuals and businesses in his hometown."
"We recognize the detrimental provisions that you insist are somehow in our best interest," Tison wrote to King on May 27, referring to a pair of bills pushed by the lawmaker. "The bottom line is that both of these bills, as you have proposed them, have a direct negative impact on the citizens and ratepayers of Weatherford and most small cities in Texas."
Weatherford, population 20,150, is the largest city in Rep. King's district and is the representative's hometown.
