Vote in this online poll
Telephony Online is running an online poll on municipal broadband. The poll is at the bottom of the page -- fill it in and let them know what you think.
The questions have a bit of a slant:
Should municipalities be able to build their own broadband networks?
- No, government units shouldn't compete with private enterprise
- No, public networks will be an expensive taxpayer boondoggle
- Yes, if incumbent service providers refuse to provide ubiquitous broadband service
- Yes, but under tight financial regulation at the state or federal level
There is no choice for "Yes, networks are public infrastructure. Supporting broadband network should be a local decision, like streetlights, roads, and public transportation." Posted by alevin at May 8, 2005 09:17 PM
